Interlachen Country Club is excited to continue our robust and engaging internship program for the 2024 season! This internship offers free on-site housing, complimentary meals and uniforms, a flexible starting and end date and the opportunity to learn at our recently renovated 18-hole golf course.

Located in Edina, Minnesota and just a few miles West of Minneapolis, Interlachen is defined by a renowned Donald Ross golf course, considered to be one of his finest. Recently renovated, in the summer of 2023 by architect, Andrew Green, the course now showcases features of the original blueprints as well as unique features created to both challenge and excite all types of players.

Internships will include daily course and grounds maintenance of the newly restored golf course, while understanding the importance of the many agronomical practices we engage in on a daily basis. However, education opportunities will be tailored to each person’s goals and experience, creating a truly personalized and memorable learning opportunity.

The goal of our internship program is to challenge each intern to grow both as a person and as a professional. Upon completion of the internship program, interns will be prepared and empowered to advance to the next step in their career. Students who have previously completed the internship program have gone on to hold top tier positions throughout the country, as well as management positions within our own team. The most successful candidates will be motivated, curious self-starters looking to grow in the golf course and grounds industry.

What you will do: 

• Golf Course Maintenance 

  • Implement and execute daily maintenance schedule on championship level course

  • Golf Course Set Up – creating unique layout on a daily basis according to golf course conditions

  • Create practices necessary to maintain championship conditions

  • Lead and motivate small crews and projects 

• Pesticide Application

  • Obtain MN Pesticide Application License 

  • Calibrate fertilizer spreader and sprayer 

  • Apply pesticides: walking boom and riding sprayer

  • Fertilizer application: walking spreader and tractor spreader

  • Complete tasks and provide thorough record keeping 

• Irrigation System and Repair

  • Basic controller operation: Toro Lynx

  • Satellite operation: Toro Network VP

  • Pipe and irrigation head repair 

  • Pump Station Operation: Flowtronics

  • Portable sprinkler set-up and hand watering techniques 

• Understand the entire operation thoroughly, including

  • Turf Management Plan

  • Landscape Management Plan

  • Environmental Program

  • Budgeting Process: Operational and Capital Budgets

  • Golf Maintenance Policies and Procedures

What we are looking for:

Education & Experience

• Knowledge of the characteristics, growth habits and proper cultivation of a wide selection of flowering bulbs, annuals, biennials and perennial plant materials, including both herbaceous and woody plants.
• Knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, soil conditioners and pest control methods and materials.
• May require current state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator

• Must be 18 years or older
