Duties: 
+ Inspect, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course equipment including diesel, electric and gasoline powered equipment used by the club.

+ Prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work.

Midland Hills Country Club
is located five miles east of Minneapolis in the suburb of Roseville. It is a 1919 Seth Raynor classic designed private club. Annually rounds are about 21,000. With no tennis or pool facilities, Midland Hills County Club's focus is the management of the golf course. 

We are looking for a highly motivated Turfgrass Management Intern to work closely with the superintendent and assistants. We make it our goal to shape each internship around the goals set by the students themselves. An eagerness to learn and a strong attention to detail is expected.

Midland Hills has a great history of continual improvements to its golf course and maintenance fleet. A new Toro irrigation system with OSMAC controls, renovated bunker complexes with independent irrigation, cartpath expansions, as well as continual restoration and additions of tee boxes have all been completed in the last several years. A newer Toro maintenance fleet is utilized. We are also in the beginning stages of a comprehensive tree management program.

Position:  Turfgrass Management Internship for 2010 golf season.

Course Operation: Private country club, 18 holes, 6,800 yards, Bent/Poa greens, tees and fairways, Kentucky bluegrass rough; Toro automatic irrigation system.

Duties: Intern will be involved in all aspects of golf course grounds management including: sprayer/spreader calibration, fertilizer, plant protectant and growth regulator application and record keeping, golf course set-up, turf disease and insect identification, mowing and mechanical troubleshooting, irrigation/drainage repair and maintenance, turf grooming and topdressing, mowing operations, hand watering and syringing techniques, crew supervision duties on various small projects. Intern will be expected to provide input during weekly management meetings.

Salary: Hourly wage will be $9-11; intern is expected to be flexible with scheduling. Overtime paid after 40 hours/week. The individual will be expected to be flexible with schedule.

Education: Candidate is to be enrolled in a turfgrass management program.

The Hong Kong Golf Club is now accepting applications for a Turfgrass/Golf Course Management Internship. The intern will be involved with all aspects of golf course management. You will be rotated amongst three different golf courses and spend time in the maintenance work shop, the landscape department, the research area and the nine hole golf facility. You will be exposed to working within many different departments and teams. Island View Golf Club

Island View GC is a semi-private 18-hole golf course located in Waconia, MN just west of the Twin Cities metro area on highway 5. The course features bentgrass/poa annua greens, tees and fairways are a bluegrass/ryegrass mix. A Toro irrigation system with Site-Pro controller was installed in 2004. The golf course is also in the midst of a course improvement project that involves a complete bunker renovation, drainage improvements, tee surface work, and overall course changes. Course Information:  Woodhill Country Club is a private family club located in the western suburbs of the Twin Cities.  The golf course, a traditional Donald Ross design completed in 1917, was host to the Trans-Mississippi Tournament, won by Jack Nicklaus in 1959.   The irrigation system is a Toro LTC-plus system.  Woodhill Country Club is a certified Audubon golf course.  Greens consist of a variety of bentgrass from Old German to Penncross.  Tees and fairways consist of annual bluegrass and bentgrass.


Requirements:

  • Have or ability to obtain Pesticide Spray License.
  • At least one year of experience applying pesticides preferred and some golf course experience.
  • Positive Attitude and Good Work Ethic.

Duties:  Proficient in accurately and safely mixing and applying pesticides/fertilizers, ability to calibrate a sprayer/spreader.  Accurate record keeping.  Knowledge of sprayers with the ability to problem solve in the field to provide optimal spray coverage.  The ability to assist in golf course maintenance as instructed by the Superintendent or Assistant (i.e. Topdressing, course setup, hand watering).

Wages:

Perham Lakeside Golf Club,

Perham Lakeside Golf Club is a 27-hole public golf course consisting of the Oak (measures 3450 yards), Maple (measures 3220 yards), and Pine (measures 3525) Golf Courses.  The original 9-holes were established in 1946, with 9 additional holes added in 1989, and the final 9 holes completed in 1999.  The greens are bent/poa; tees and fairways are blue/rye mix.


Perham is located in the heart of lakes country in Otter Tail County about an hour east of Fargo, ND, hour north of Alexandria, MN, and hour west of Brainerd, MN on Highway 10.  Perham is a popular resort/tourist destination with 1,000+ lakes located in the area.


Duties

Assistant Superintendent will be involved in all aspects of golf course management including but not limited too:

Bully Pulpit Golf Course, Medora, ND is now accepting applications for the position of 2010 Golf Course Maintenance Intern.

Job Description:
Interns will be exposed to and will play an important role in our daily maintenance operation.
Our internship program will consider the student’s goals and involve them to several aspects of golf course management. Special emphasis will be on water quality management and its impacts on turfgrass physiology and soil structure. Individuals will also be introduced to the entire structure and management of the operation. Computerized turfgrass management via the use of various spreadsheets and other computer uses will be implemented.

Duties include but are not limited to: Daily golf course setup, all types of mowing, supervision of small work crews, assisting with spray equipment calibration, fertilizer and pesticide applications, assisting with irrigation repair and maintenance, training and supervising staff with equipment use and course setup, assisting with project management and work on special projects.


Special projects for the 2010 season will include:  timber steps and retaining walls, bunker renovation, cart path repair, drainage improvements, irrigation renovation, turfgrass nursery establishment, and various seeding & sodding projects.

The Chisago Lakes Golf Course is now accepting applications for the position of 2nd Assistant Superintendent. Chisago Lakes is a public 18-hole golf course that is privately owned. The course features bentgrass/poa greens, bluegrass fairways and tees. The original 9-holes were opened in 1973 with an additional 9 in 1989. StoneRidge Golf Club

StoneRidge Golf Club is a semi-private golf club located in Stillwater, MN and opened in 2000.  It is an 18-hole links-style course designed by Bobby Weed.  The golf course was built out of a sand and gravel mine with very large greens and fairways.  Stone Ridge features L-93 creeping bentgrass greens, tees, and fairways and is the highest rated daily-fee course in the metro area by Golf Digest. 

Responsibilities:
  We will be willing to work with any candidate to help model a program based on what type of experience you have in different areas.  Intern will be involved in all aspects of golf course maintenance, including but not limited to:

Golden Valley Golf and Country Club
is located five miles west of Minneapolis, Minnesota in the suburb of Golden Valley. It is an A. W. Tillinghast designed private club, dating back to 1914. Annually rounds are about 20,000.

We are looking for (2) two highly motivated Turfgrass Management Interns to work in coordination with the superintendent and assistants. This opportunity will involve the student in all aspects of turfgrass management as well as leading small crews on special projects. We make it our goal to shape each internship around the goals set by the students themselves.

GVGCC recently completed a $1.95 million course improvement project that included the installation of a new irrigation system and a complete rebuild of all tee boxes. Projects for 2010 include ongoing in-house bunker renovations, installation of additional fairway drainage, pond dredging, pond and creek bank stabilization and the beginning of a comprehensive tree management program. This is an ideal opportunity for any student to gain valuable experience maintaining a golf course at a high level of expectations.

Position: Turfgrass Management Internship for 2010 golf season.

Course Operation: Private country club, 18 holes, 7,000 yards, Bent/Poa greens and fairways, Bentgrass tees, Kentucky bluegrass rough; Toro automatic irrigation system.

We are looking to hire two candidates to complete a Dual Internship at Somerby Golf Club and Rochester Golf and Country Club.  The candidates will work at separate courses and switch every three weeks giving you efficient time to finish any cultural practices being done at that time.  This will provide a unique opportunity to experience the maintenance practices of two very different private golf courses. 

Somerby Golf Club is located in Byron, MN and managed by O.B. Sports.  The course was designed by Tom Lehman / John Fought and built in 2004. The course has bentgrass greens, tees and fairways.  Somerby is ranked in the top ten courses in Minnesota and has been the host of two Nationwide Tour events.  Rochester Golf and Country Club is located in Rochester, MN and managed by Troon Golf.  The club was established in 1916 and the course was designed in 1926 by A.W. Tillinghast.  The course is a bentgrass / poa mix from tee to green.  Rochester Golf and Country Club is ranked in the top twenty courses and is one of the oldest and mature courses in Minnesota.  The two courses are located only ten minutes apart.

At both facilities interns will participate in many cultural and daily activities that will enhance their understanding of very detailed golf course operations.  Each candidate will have the benefit of working on different irrigation systems, grass types, equipment and much more.
